There is something so beautiful about fall in Alberta. The golden grasses, warm autumn light and changing leaves create the most gorgeous backdrop for fall family photos near Calgary.
This family session took place just south of Calgary in one of my favourite open landscapes for fall photography. With rolling hills, golden fields and pockets of autumn colour, it was the perfect setting for relaxed, natural family photographs.
A Relaxed Approach to Family Photography
For me, the best family photographs aren’t about everyone looking perfectly at the camera. They’re about the little moments in between—the way a child reaches for their parent’s hand, a genuine laugh, or the way a little one cuddles into mom.
During a family session, I give families plenty of opportunities to move, play and interact rather than asking them to stand still and pose for every photograph. This creates images that feel natural and authentic while still giving you beautiful portraits of everyone together.
